An Introduction to Ayurveda: Yoga & Seasonal Living
As we move into the colder, darker months, this session offers a chance to slow down, restore and explore how we can support ourselves through seasonal change.
We’ll begin with a restorative yoga practice. Afterwards, we’ll gather over a warm drink for an introduction to Ayurveda – the ancient Indian system of knowledge about health and healing.
Lauren Currie will introduce some of the fundamental principles of Ayurveda, including the doshas (the fundamental energies) and agni (digestion), and explore how understanding our own nature and the rhythms of the seasons can inform the way we eat, rest and live.
Ayurveda goes hand in hand with yoga – maintaining the health of the bodily tissues and organic function, in order to prepare for the practice of yoga and study of the mind.
There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions, making this a relaxed and accessible introduction to Ayurveda, with practical ideas to take away and explore in your own life.
